The ulnar digital artery perforator flap

چکیده
Sir, This letter is with regards to our article on the ulnar digital artery perforator flap that was published in IJPS recently.[1] Following the publication, another article about a similar flap was bought to our notice. This article by Uchida et al.[2] from Tokyo Medical University, Japan, essentially described the same flap with anatomical studies. We missed this publication in our initial literature search.

Vascular Anatomy and Clinical Application of the Free Proximal Ulnar Artery Perforator Flaps
BACKGROUND There is a dearth of detailed published work on the anatomy of ulnar artery perforators. The objective of this study was to fully document the vascular basis of the free proximal ulnar artery perforator flap and report its use in reconstruction of the hand. METHODS (1) The ulnar artery perforators were studied in 25 fresh cadavers and 10 cast preparations. Cadavers were injected wi...
متن کاملAnalysis of 22 Posterior Ulnar Recurrent Artery Perforator Flaps: A Type of Proximal Ulnar Perforator Flap
BACKGROUND The proximal ulnar artery has several branches, including perforators that are directly derived from the ulnar artery and anterior/posterior recurrent arteries. There are only a few reports of flaps that use the anterior/posterior recurrent arteries, and flaps employing their perforators as a main pedicle are yet to be reported. In this study, posterior ulnar recurrent artery perfora...
متن کاملThe Anterior Interosseus Artery Perforator Flap: Anatomical Dissections and Clinical Study
BACKGROUND Reconstruction of upper extremity deformities continues to be a challenge to the reconstructive surgeon. Various loco regional, distant and free flaps are available for reconstruction. However, each has its own set of advantages and disadvantages. Of the commonly performed local flaps, radial artery forearm flap, and the posterior interosseus artery flap stand out prominently. Rec...
متن کاملTreatment of complex hand trauma using the distal ulnar and radial artery perforator-based flaps.
SUMMARY The clinical value of distal ulnar or radial artery adipofascial perforator flaps is shown in a series of 30 patients with severe hand and wrist injuries and major soft tissue defects requiring coverage. There were 22 men and 8 women, aged 16-73 years. The defects were dorsal and/or palmar, with or without transpalmar or transcarpal amputation, or amputation of the thumb and/or the digi...
متن کاملFasciocutaneous Propeller Flap Based on Perforating Branch of Ulnar Artery for Soft Tissue Reconstruction of the Hand and Wrist
Background A skin defect of the hand and wrist is a common manifestation in industrial crushing injuries, traffic accidents or after excision of tumors. We reconstructed a skin defect in the ulnar aspect of the hand and wrist with a perforator-based propeller flap from the ulnar artery. The aims of our study are to evaluate the utility and effectiveness of this flap and to discuss the advantage...
